Trainee Machine Mover / Lorry Mounted Crane (HIAB) Operator
This is a trainee role with structured training over a 2–3 year period, leading to full competence as a Machine Mover and Lorry Mounted Crane (HIAB) Operator.
Training will be provided in-house, supported by external training providers, with industry-recognised qualifications gained throughout the programme.
Key responsibilities and training areas
- Load securing – use of load binders (straps), chains, roping and sheeting
- Abnormal load movements – working as part of a team, including second man duties, escort vehicle driving and load preparation
- Jacking and skating – safe movement of machinery using skates
- Plant and vehicle pre-operation checks and basic maintenance – greasing, changing bulbs, topping up fluids and general cleanliness
- Working at height – use of harnesses and fall arrest systems, including IPAF and PASMA training
- Lorry Mounted Crane (HIAB) operation – safe operation of lorry mounted cranes up to 100 tonnes (ALLMI certification)
- Slinger/Signaller duties – correct selection and use of lifting tackle and safe signalling during lifting operations
- HGV operation – working towards Class 1 (DVLA Category C+E)
The ideal candidate will:
- Be 18 years or over
- Hold a full UK driving licence (Category B)
- Have a good understanding of spoken and written English, with the ability to work as part of a team and understand RAMS, lift plans and permits
- Have a good basic understanding of maths for calculating load dimensions, sling selection and weights
- Be prepared to work unsociable hours when required
- Be willing to work away from home as part of the role
Additional information
All PPE and tooling will be provided. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment is looked after and kept safe.
Salary will reflect skill level and experience, with increases as training milestones and qualifications are achieved.
Class 1 Driver
We are looking for an experienced Class 1 Driver to join our team. The role involves a mix of tipper and flat work, with nights out required — a night out allowance is paid in addition to a competitive salary.
To be considered, you will need a minimum of one year’s Class 1 driving experience.
Site Engineer
We are looking for a Site Engineer to support our project team on a range of installations, including generators, machinery, and associated equipment. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of mechanical equipment and basic tooling.
A CSCS card is required as a minimum. IPAF and Forklift Truck certifications are desirable, though training can be provided for the right candidate.
This role involves working away from base. Salary is competitive and dependent on experience.
